COVID-19

COVID-19 Update - January 3, 2022

Like many organizations we've made changes to the way we operate to ensure the safety of everyone in our building and programs. Below we've listed the procedures we've put in place:

Vaccination Policy

In line with new government guidelines, BGC Durham has developed a vaccination policy that went into effect on September 28th, 2021. This policy applies to all BGC Durham employees (including students working part-time or on an educational placement), volunteers, program guests, and visitors. BGC Durham encourages everyone who is able, to be vaccinated. We also recognize that it is an individual’s right to make the decision about whether to be vaccinated or not.

Vaccinated individuals must provide proof of having received their 2nd vaccine dose at least 14 days ago.

Non-vaccinated individuals should provide a medical note for exemption if applicable. Non-vaccinated individuals (medically exempt and those who choose not to be vaccinated) entering BGC Durham facilities as a program guest or visitor are required to provide a negative antigen test two times per week (BGC Durham will not provide tests or compensation for these tests). Non-vaccinated staff, volunteers, and placement students must provide a negative antigen test two times per week and participate in online educational and certificate sessions (BGC Durham will provide rapid antigen testing at no charge to staff while supplies last). All staff will continue to comply with PPE and physical distancing measures.

Staff working at locations other than our Eastview location are required to follow the vaccination policy at the location they work at. The policy in the majority of our school locations (DDSB and DCDSB schools) match that of BGC Durham.

Students under the age of 18 participating in Raise the Grade, Aquatics programs, or Evening Basketball do not need to show proof of vaccination.

Please feel free to download the full version of this policy.

Please reach out to khutton@bgcdurham if you have any questions.
