To be High Five accredited means that the Club focuses their programming and their policies and procedures on healthy child development. High Five accreditation is the highest recognized level of quality and safety in children’s sport and recreation and all of the staff at Boys and Girls Club of Durham who work with children aged 6 to 12 have been trained in High Five.

“Children and youth are the centre of everything we do at the Boys and Girls Club” say Lisa McNee Baker Executive Director. “High Five is a quality assurance framework committed to assisting children along the path of healthy development and we are very proud of the dedication shown by our staff team to reach the level of success that enabled our agency to reach accreditation. It is particularly rewarding to be acknowledged by Parks and Recreation Ontario in front of our recreational colleagues from across the province.”

High Five has recognized five principles of healthy child development that are crucial for quality programs. A caring adult, the opportunity to play, make friends, participate and master skills are what creates quality experiences for children.
