September is always and exciting month at the Club and this September is no exception! We’ve got tons of great programs starting back up for the years, as well as a few new programs that are ready to get going!
We got programs for children, teens, and even parents! Some are in-person and some are online. Check out the details below for more information:
Aquatics Programs
Swimming Lessons
We’ve got lessons for every age and skill level! It’s never too late or too early to start your swimming journey.
Free Swim
NEW! BGC Durham is excited to offer a free open swim every Friday night, beginning September 30th. These swims are entirely free but space is limited, so be sure to register for your spot!
Jr Lifeguard Club
NEW! Kids ages 8+ who want more than just “lessons” can sign up for this action-packed challenge. This program keeps kids interested and active in aquatics, especially those caught between levels.
Lifesaving Programs
We’ve got some new and some returning programs this year! Join us for Canadian Swim Patrol, get your Bronze Medals, and even take the National Lifeguard course.
Aquatic Leadership Scholarship Program
NEW! We are excited to help youth in achieving their aquatics goals! Those interested can apply to participate in any of the following programs for FREE: Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, National Lifeguard (NL), Swim Instructor and Lifesaving Instructor.
Fitness Swimmer
NEW! This program is great for swimmers of any age who want to improve their overall physical fitness in the water. Participants can set their own goals approach them using accepted training principles and practices.
AquaFit
AquaFit is an excellent fitness class that’s done in the shallow end and deep end (with a flotation device). Aquafit is an old favourite of many, but be sure to check out our new afternoon time slot!
AquaDance (HIIT)
NEW! This easy-to-follow, Latin inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness party offers a fun but challenging, water-based, body-toning workout!
Children’s Program
After-School Program
Children can join us at one of 13 locations throughout Durham region for some after school fun! Children receive a snack and participate in physical activity, crafts, games, and more!
GIA (Girls in Action)
Girls can join together online to participate in fun activities geared towards girls. Program supplies are all provided and will be dropped off monthly!
Boy Zone
Boys can join together online to participate in fun activities geared towards boys. Program supplies are all provided and will be dropped off monthly!
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club is back! Members can drop-in to this Saturday morning program for a yummy breakfast and tons of fun!
Youth Programs
Raise the Grade
Youth in high school can come out for this program that’s designed to provide skills, mentors, and supports to high school students.
Lead Up
Youth in Lead Up can participate online to develop valuable employability, leadership, and problem solving skills while completing 120 community service hours.
Ball at the Centre
Youth can come out to Northview twice a week to play ball with friends and other members of the community.
Tuesday Teen Social
Teens can come out on Tuesday to use the games room, gym, and tech centre with friends.
Parenting Programs
Happy Kids Happy Parents
Parents (and expecting parents) can participate in this FREE online program for great resources and tips, as well as building a great support system for their parenting journey.
